Ooh La La, C'est Classe

Anyone who knows me, knows that I NEVER do anything half way. So of course that would apply to my current obsession with all things french. Well, maybe it's not quite that bad (yet), maybe more like a fascination, but you get my point. Anyway, I would imagine that anyone going to Paris would do a fair amount of research before leaving.

I have almost 3 months to plan. Since I'm a rather fashion conscious person, one of the first things I wanted to know was
"how do french women dress?"
Dressing is not such an issue here in the US as our basic dress styles varies only slightly, depending on whether you live in an urban environment or in the country and whether your climate is hot or cold. But mostly here in the US we all see the same commercials and shop at the same big box stores so we're all pretty much on the same page. "Comfort" is our thing! In other countries, not so much, especially in Paris. I did some investigating on Paris and I found out some interesting things.

"French women by American standards are always dressed up"

French Women love:
black - big bags - tight, tight, tight jeans - scarves -  stripes  - leather pants (even for grocery shopping) - chic flats - well fitted clothing
French Women don't:
wear earrings (Not sure I believe it either, so we'll see) - wear color on their short well manicured nails - wear much makeup - spend much time on their hair
If you don't want look like an "American tourist" Don't:
Wear Baseball Caps - Wear Nike's or other tennis shoes. French tennis shoes look more like bowling shoes (I know) - Wear sweatsuits - hoodies -  jogging suits -  Uggs - flip flops

"Chic is not a matter of having it all but more a matter of having the best of what you need?
The key to being chic (or the new phrase is c'est classe) is wearing classically cut fashions in unexpected ways. French women have accepted their physical appearance for what it is. This acceptance of self gives them a confidence that says "sexy".
(I thought this video was cute and funny)

Oh BTW - The Dog of the hour in Paris is the Jack Russell

Okay, I was REALLY thinking about going to Paris with my daughter and my mother (whenever that might be) until I got to "no flip flops".

Quelle horreur!

I LIVE for wearing my (platform) flip flops. The only thing better is being barefoot.

And no EARRINGS? I absolutely cannot believe this.

Didn't adorning one's ears with pearls and feathers and gems start in Paris?! (LOL)

Why are they lying to us Americans about these things?!

If you see any French women (or women who look remotely French) wearing earrings or flip flops, please, we must see the photos!

:)
