Ancestry Results are in!

F I N A L L Y

After ten very long weeks, the envelope arrived today. I was so excited to open it. Inside was a very nice Certificate of Ancestry, a color map of Africa, along with book, some other resource information and a letter explaining my results.

So…….what did it say? Well, I'll tell you.

West African coast

My maternal genetic ancestry has been identified and my DNA sample shares ancestry with the Fulani people in Guinea-Bissau today.
This means that I have inherited through my mother a segment of DNA that was passed on consistently from mother to daughter to me. This segment of DNA is presently found in Africa in Guinea-Bissau.

My Sequence Similarity Measure was 100%
This means that my sequence is 100% the same as sequences from the Fulani in Guinea-Bissau today.

I’ll go into detail later. For now here are some pictures of the Fulani women of Guinea-Bissau.

What a beautiful people to be related to! It is not surprising-- so many people were kidnapped or sold from that area of Africa. It is wonderful that you can trace your heritage-- I think it would not be very easy as names were changed or lost. It is quite admirable that you keep trying! You are in inspiration on so many levels!

My results are identical (Fulani/Guinea Bissau). I found out today. I will have my brother take the test next so we can figure out where I have DNA from my father's side.
