I don't watch the entire show anymore. I've been really close to jumping ship on more than one occasion. I routinely pop in for a little Hot Topics, then delete and move on.
So, I'm watching yesterday and I really wanted to throw something at the TV. Elisabeth Hasselbeck was on and she was calling for the firing of Rahm Emanuel because he used the "r" word(retarded) in a private conversation. Now we all know that since nothing we do these days is ever really private, he had to apologize. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was a good word to use but certainly it was not so big a blunder as to cost him his job (let us remember that he didn't order the senseless war in Iraq that has killed over four thousand of our soldiers) HOW-ever, for the self righteous Elisabeth, apology, Not accepted! For Ms Lizzie Nothing is good enough short of beheading the White House Chief of Staff! And, as she never passes up any opportunity to get a jab in at Pres O, she called him out again for a joking reference he made to "special olympics" (during a game of bowling while on the campaign trail). It's "this administration" she says. Whooo! "We better be careful" she warns. "What might they really be thinking when they're alone?" WHAT?
That's the thing that gets me about her. She is so often overly emotional and very polarizing in her responses. I bet she even believes Pres O is a Muslim born in some terrorist country. Most mornings she trots out to her seat carrying her Republican marching orders in the form of
"the daily talking points" I do agree that to produce interesting and informative TV you need to enlist views from all sides and so I welcome respectful dialogue. But, that's not what she brings to the table most days. To be representative of a group's opinion you have to say have a bunch of other people that believe the same thing? Right? Well, I have a hard time believing that in 2010 there are that many women who subscribe to her beliefs. Okay, maybe Sarah Palin, but there can't be many more than that. Well...maybe one or two more.
The saddest thing to me is how closed minded and set in her ways she is. She's so young to have formulated such rigid views on so many issues. Usually with her there is no gray area. It's either black or white. That's it! I'm almost pretty sure (I hope) that down the road someday, she is going to regret some of the things she has said.
And I really hope she is prepared for the day when
Tim comes home
to confess that he watches porn
has been having an affair
with his African American soul mate
who happens to be male
and
oh yeah
wants a divorce
and is taking the kids

What I want to know is what gives her the right to be so self righteous? Wasn't her claim to fame before the "View" being on "Survivor"? I mean really it's not like she has a background at harvard law school...sheesh.
Love the picture, I think a lot of men secretly wish their woman were like the stepford wife in the photo...sigh...
