I LOVE FASHION and DESIGN
Last night I was watching one of the way too many shows I have piled up on my DVR, when It occurred to me just how many of them are design or fashion oriented. I admit that I'm a fashion and design show junkie. So, I thought I'd share with you some of the shows I watch.
Here are my Top Ten Favorites
1. Project Runway – Lifetime - I love this show. I have watched it from the very first season and have remained loyal thru Heidi's numerous pregnancies and the show's channel switch from Bravo to Lifetime. Heidi is pregnant yet again this season. So, what is this Heidi, like 100? Please, Please promise us - No more babies for a while.
2. Design Inc – HGTV - Sarah owns her own company called Design Inc. The show, which is narrated by Sarah, takes us through the inner workings of her interior design firm as they take on the challenges of remodeling. The music accompanying the show is very hip and catchy. I’ve found myself humming along on more than one occasion. Sarah must be very busy as she has a 2nd show on HGTV called “Sarah's House” and another one on FLN called “Room Service.” I enjoy both. This season Sarah has a new baby girl named Robin. I think this makes 2 for her. Just pray she doesn't call Heidi for family planning advice.
3. America's Next Top Model - WB- I have also watched this show from the beginning. Altho I have read that Ms Tyra Banks can be quite a Diva and is oh so hard to work for, I think she has done a commendable job of producing the show and keeping it fresh for 13 cycles. Many of the ex top models have gone on to make a name for themselves on other shows. Currently ex top model contestant Lisa D'Amato has a starring role on “Dr. Drew Pinsky's Celebrity Rehab.” Well, I know a good job is hard to find. So, Lisa, you go girl!
4. Launch My Line - Bravo - While Bravo TV and the Project Runway fans were waiting for Heidi to deliver baby #4, they came up with a Project Runway knockoff series called “Launch My Line.” It's a pretty good show. It teams up 10 established fashion designers with 10 fashion experts. The show is hosted by pint size twin brothers, Dan and Dean Caten. Designers in their own right, the brothers will be outfitting the headlining performers at the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
5. Tabatha's Salon Takeover - Bravo- Tabatha Coffey is a salon owner and no non-sense ball buster from Australia. She goes into failing salons which are on the brink of collapse and turns them around in one week. "Give me your keys, I'm taking over!" Tabatha, dubbed the "Queen of Mean" is a real bitch with a capital B. She doesn't carry a whip but she should. In spite of all of that, I enjoy watching heads roll and the salons look great after she is finished.
6. Models of the Runway - Lifetime - This show follows Project Runway and is a competition for the Project Runway models. Not too deep but good.
7. Shear Genius – Bravo - Jonathan Antin will be one of the judges on the upcoming season of “Shear Genius.” I liked him on his own show "Blow Out" so I will probably like him here as well.
8. Divine Design – HGTV - Candance Olsen is in a league of her own. Great designer and a class act. Love her work.
9. She's Got the Look - TVLand – This is a modeling competition for the beautiful women over 35. It's about time!
10. Kell on Earth - Bravo - The show debuted last night. Not sure what I think yet. Kell (short for Kelly) is pretty intense. Kell owns a fashion company called People's Revolution. I remember her from "The City" where she was pretty mean to poor Whitney and the other interns. Now she is back with her own show. Her personality is right on the edge and the show left me feeling a little anxious and a bit uneasy. We'll see if she can lighten up a bit. Perhaps a few Valium would help.
