Canola oil is hazardous to your health

Do you know the truth about canola oil?

Did you know that Canola doesn't come from a natural plant? Canola oil is a made up name. Its short for "Canadian Oil".  Canola oil is actually a genetically modified product made from the Rapeseed plant.

Are you familiar with the Rapeseed plant? It comes from Canada and is part of the mustard family and...Canada was the main country from which the U.S got its Canadian oil.  Farmers in the U.S and Canada grow the genetically engineered rapeseed and manufacturers use its oils to make Canola oil, which they use in processed foods.

So far so good, right? W-R-O-N-G

Rapeseed is POISON! It has been used for industrial purposes to make soap, pesticides, lubricant and fuel, to name a few. Rapeseed oil is toxic to humans and animals and surely is NOT an oil you want to fry your chicken in or put on your salad!

So of course in an effort to cover up the ill effects of this deadly product, the marketing folks came up with the cutesy little name of 'canola oil'.  The new name is a perfect cover for the money hungry corporations to make millions.

Oh, and rapeseed oil was the ingredient used to make mustard gas and is linked to Mad Cow disease.

Here's where our trusted government comes in.
The Canadian government and industry paid the U.S Federal Drug Administration (FDA) $50 million to have canola oil placed on the GRAS list (generally recognized as safe).
Now canola oil is widely used in thousands of processed food, with the blessings and under the watchful eye of the U.S and Canadian government!

We see statements like this:
Canola Oil: Canola is actually a cousin to cabbage and Brussels sprouts. In fact, it's a variety of rapeseed that's part of the mustard family, which includes those above-mentioned veggies. It's beneficial for heart health thanks to its fatty acid profile and omega-3 and low saturated fat contents and perfect for light cooking, sauces and desserts like homemade mayo or tender cakes.

Today, 72% of all products from the United States are genetically modified. The top 3 genetically modified foods are:
  1. canola
  2. corn
  3. soy
Companies that commonly use genetic modification are:
  • Kellogg’s
  • Kraft
  • Miss Vickie’s
  • Hershey’s
  • Coke
  • Gatorade
  • General Mills
  • Labatt beer
  • McCain
  • No Name
  • President’s Choice
  • Quaker Oats
  • Ragu

And, unfortunately even Whole Foods Market uses canola oil in just about everything they make, and a lot of what they sell.

You have to look out for yourself folks, don't believe the hype when they tell you it's Ok to use canola oil.

Read up and make your own decision,
but first...

Ask yourself "who benefits?"
