how to stay cold free - when someone in your home has a cold

This is starting out to be a bear of a cold season. Just about everywhere I go someone has a cold.  At work I have been subjected to colleagues who came to work sick instead of staying home. I even suffered from the beginnings of a cold myself a few weeks ago.

I bought some Oscillococcinum (commonly shortened to Oscillo) which is a  homeopathic alternative medicine marketed to relieve influenza type symtoms. There is also one specifically for colds but I didn’t know that at the time. Oscillo is one of the most popular homeopathic preparations, particularly in France. Oscillococcinum is manufactured by a French company, Boiron, its sole manufacturer. There are, however, other manufacturers who make similar preparations. Oscillococcinum is used in more than 50 countries. In France, it has been in production for over 65 years. It did the trick and my cold was gone the next day.

This weekend however, my BF came down with a cold. One of those runny nose, frequent sneezing kind that make you cringe every time you hear it. His sneezes are a very loud "hush-CHUH! I mean he practically screams it. That in itself is enough to send you running for cover! Even the dogs duck.

But back to the story.  I am really nervous that after 4 days of being with him, that I am going to get another cold.

So I looked up what to do.

   1.
Wash your hands frequently. Remind the person who is sick to also wash her hands frequently.
Make sure hands are washed properly. It should take at least 20 seconds every time hands are washed.

    2.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home. Use sanitizing spray or wipes to wipe down bathrooms, counters, tables, doorknobs, toys, television remotes and all other frequently touched surfaces.

               3.
Throw all tissues away after use. Do not allow used tissues to pile up on a table or nightstand.

  4.
Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet can help you maintain a healthy immune system.

                                 5
. Drink eight glasses of water a day and stay hydrated.

                            6
. Stay active and exercise daily.

Well,  I'm off to drink some water. Wish me luck!

I'm Just Sayin!
