The phone service was "mysteriously" not working last night after my post, so I had no access to internet all night until just this morning. I went to bed around 12:30AM. I could still hear loud noises (like tear gas) and helicopters. This morning I turned on a local news station (NBC) to see if they were going to address the phone situation. They pretended to show an impartial cross section of people tweeting about the protest. They showed 2 tweets, both against the protest then they went to weather. So much for fair and balanced reporting. The stations are owned just like everything else. Wake up sheeple! It could happen to you! I hear more helicopters now.... Off to work I go.
UPDATE: Helicopters have been flying overhead since 5pm. It's 10:00pm.
Here's a video of what is going on outside

EARLIER TONIGHT:
As we speak there are a bunch of noisy helicopters flying overhead. (it's about 7:15PM)
I heard there may be a very large group of protesters who have gathered downtown. They have been marching.

Earlier today, under cover of darkness (5:15 AM) the Oakland PD and friends took down the Occupy Oakland sites in downtown Oakland and other sites. They stormed in with tear gas and rubber bullets. They tore down the tents, turned over wooden stalls that housed the food and medical supplies and starting dragging people out. It was over in 20 minutes and has now been labeled as a "crime scene". I guess they know who committed "the crime".
This action was sanctioned by Oakland's newly elected and poor excuse for a mayor, Jean Quan! I hear rumor of a recall - and it can't be too soon for me.
Hang in there Oakland. WE are the 99% and WE are TOO BIG to Fail!
Oh and what a great day for Mr Obama to be right across the bay in San Francisco, where some other protesters met him with signs of a different matter. I remember gathering to celebrate Barack Obama in Oakland (just steps away from the Occupy camp location) when nobody knew his name. We took a chance on him. What a shame, he can't stand up for the people who put him in office. But, that's another story.
I'm Just Sayin
I'll report back when I have more details
