The film's stars -- Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour
Hoffman and Robin Wright -- and a group of Oakland A's players will walk the
red carpet prior to the premiere, officials said.
The film is based on the book "Moneyball: The Art of
Winning an Unfair Game" written by best-selling author Michael Lewis in
2003.
Lewis will also be at the premiere.
The film tells the true story of the 2002 Oakland A's and
general manager Billy Beane's crusade to build a championship-worthy team with
a limited budget.
The proceeds from tonight's event will go to the A's
Community Fund, which will be splitting the funds between Children's Hospital
& Research Center Oakland and "Stand Up to Cancer," Children's
Hospital spokeswoman Erin Goldsmith said.
"Stand Up to Cancer" is a charitable organization
that raises funds for cancer research.
Patients from Children's Hospital will also be attending the
event.
