Last night was the overnight date episode. Usually this is a pretty juicy episode where we get to see how each of the women react to the Bachelor but...I don’t know if anyone else noticed but…there is something really different about season 15. We are only 2 episodes from the end and I still don’t have any real deep connection with any of the women. Don't get me wrong, I like them well enough but I mean, usually by this time, I’m crying about something or someone but last night, well, not so much. (I could have been happier watching the last episode of The Bachelorette with Alli & Roberto - I still have it on my DVR))
Here’s the rundown
The gang is in beautiful South Africa going on the safari that I had planned to take in 2012. Anyway, Chantal and Brad get together and have a chance to observe elephants, giraffes and hippos in the bush. As they picnic near the hippos, Brad produces the “fantasy suite” invitation. Of course Chantal agrees and off they go to find their romantic getaway. Which just happens to be a tree house. Now, I have nothing against tree houses but I would have preferred a room with walls instead of mosquito nets, but hey, that’s just “me”
The scene ends and that’s it. No sharing of intimate conversation with us, the nosey viewers.
Next Brad meets Emily and after telling her that he “forgot” something, he shows up on the back of an elephant. This just thrills Emily because she has always dreamed of riding an elephant. They chat about Ricki and how much Brad wants to be around her. Next Emily finally gets up the nerve to tell Brad that she loves him. And I think this may be a first in Bachelor history….Brad tells her he loves her back! Off to the fantasy suite they go. What happened next? Dunno. Cut!
Last up is Ashley and guess what? The ABC helicopter company must exist in So Africa because there it was once again. Helicopters just happens to be one of Ashley’s fears, however she manages to overcome it and they fly over the beautiful South African countryside. They get into a conversation about where she wants to live and her answer doesn’t score any points with Brad. Her plans don’t seem to mesh with his. He feels that the 2 of them are just not connecting. You can tell right there. She’s out of the race and although he knew it and we knew it, he invites her to the fantasy suite anyway.
I guess it didn't go that well because....
Later at the rose ceremony, Brad is feeling conflicted (you can tell when he’s in turmoil by the increased amount of ear pulling and head scratching he does). Anyway to give her one last chance (Brad really is a caring guy) he takes her aside to talk to her. I think he did a pretty good job of spelling it out for her. For some reason she just couldn’t open up to him. So, he takes a page out of Alli's playbook and tells her right there that he is cutting her.
Later she cries on the ride out and lets us in on some of her feelings but it’s “too little, too late”.
Only Chantal & Emily remain.
Next week is, The Women Tell All. So see you in 2 weeks for the finale.
