Paris Day 3 - Marais

Marais (3rd & 4th arrondissement)

Sunday we vistited the Marais Arrondissement. It rained off and on all day. The Marais is known as a trendy area crammed with chic boutiques and the center of the gay community in Paris. The Marais also has historic ties to the Parisian Jewish community and even the French aristocracy. The elegant townhouses which line the beautiful public squares used to house the royals until they all fled to Versailles when the king moved his court there.

Many of the gorgeous Marais buildings have been turned int o boutique hotels and rental apartments.

We had breakfast there and ended up spending the entire day. There was street after street of breathtaking architecture and loads of shopping. I managed to buy several bottles of perfumes only available in Paris and I picked up a couple of pairs of Repettos shoes (check these off the list). Also there was a roller skating event as well as a book sale featuring stars from days gone by.

I got a lot of shopping done. I LOVED this area!!!

I'm going to use small thumbnails to post a bunch of pics today. At some point I will link to Flickr...but not today. Please click on the photos to enlarge them.

Sorry I had some problem with the hotel WiFi and the blog was published without the photos.  This is the best I can do for now. Hopefully you can see these OK now.

I still have Monday's pics to post (Seine River cruise). Today is our last day in Paris and we are off to the museums.
