Where did French Fries originate?
A. Belgium
B. France
C. USA
The correct answer is A. Belgium
'Frenching' is actually the technique of cutting something into long strips rather than a description of where Fries originate. As a matter of fact the process of deep-frying potatoes in oil originated in Spain but the modern French Fry was developed in Belgium.
In France, they are simply called "pommes de terres frites" or, more commonly, simply "pommes frites" or 'frites'.
Beautiful hand-cut fries dipped in the rich bearnaise-mayonnaise sauce that actually comes with the steak. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Yum, above, a perfect plate of frites from Cafe des Musees in Paris.
