A Carrot Is Not Just A Vegetable

Today I was surfing around on line, in and out of fashion websites looking to see if there was anything I had possibly overlooked on french fashion.  I came upon a website which was very helpful and was discussing how women can incorporate this spring's trends into wardrobe staples. It's OK to mix things up,  yes but the key is simplicity, uh huh never overdo, yes, yes minimal accessories. I know.  Ok, so far so good. Then the article suggested buying a pair of carrot trousers and pairing them with a coral-colored accessory. So I thought "hmm, carrot huh?". Well that certainly is a color I never thought of wearing as a pant but if it's a french thing I was willing to check it out. I wrote it down on my "to do" list and went on with my day.  Later, when I had a bit more time to investigate this new carrot trouser I consulted the Google under
"carrot trousers" here's what I got.
It seems that a carrot is more than a vegetable.  It's a trendy trouser too. Who knew?

The carrot trouser is a throwback to the 80's (sort of) an updated version of a cross between a harem pant and a bold pleated trouser with a tailored look.

The carrot trouser comes in a variety of styles. Carrots come with a very fitted peg leg, cropped and even come in low rise. They are loose around the hips and tailored at the ankle. They come in various fabrics including silk, satin, and linen.  And guess what? Guys can wear the carrot trouser too!  I don't think the edgy rocker style is  quite the right look for "the Boyfriend" although he's pretty open where fashion is concerned. I think maybe a more dressy evening style might be good for him. Anyway, I think I'll check around and see if I can find any that I like, For ME!  I'm thinking maybe in a linen with a cotton tee and pair of sandals. What do you think?

Carrot Anyone?

Oh no, not like MC Hammer

OMG that's hilarious. Never knew ... those pants would look HORRENDOUS on me as I'm bowl-legged so it'd just exagerate my crooked legs.

Ting - this will disguise the legs :)

Back in the late 70s, one of my family members dated a guy from Senegal.

He introduced us to a garment called a "chiya". (spelling might be wrong)

It looks a lot like the MC Hammer pants and I wonder if the chiya is the model for them and other subsequent similar styles...
